Sharda World School, Agra celebrated Social Science Week from 18th to 20th August 2026, creating an engaging platform for students to explore society and the world around them beyond the boundaries of conventional classroom learning.
The three-day celebration was organised with the objective of fostering curiosity, awareness, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of Social Science. Through meaningful and interactive activities, students explored the diverse dimensions of History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics, discovering how each of these disciplines contributes to understanding everyday life and the society in which we live.
Exploring the Many Dimensions of Social Science
Social Science provides students with an opportunity to understand people, places, institutions, economies, cultures, and events that have shaped—and continue to shape—the world.
Throughout Social Science Week, students engaged with different areas of the subject, including History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics. The activities encouraged them to move beyond theoretical concepts and recognise the connections between what they learn in the classroom and situations they encounter in the real world.
The celebration helped make Social Science more relatable and engaging while encouraging learners to observe their surroundings with greater curiosity and awareness.
Learning Through Meaningful and Interactive Activities
A key focus of the three-day celebration was to make learning interactive, participatory, and thought-provoking.
Students enthusiastically participated in various activities designed to strengthen critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and awareness of social issues. Instead of approaching Social Science simply as a collection of facts and concepts, learners were encouraged to think, question, discuss, and make connections.
The activities provided students with opportunities to express their understanding creatively while working collaboratively with their peers.
Connecting the Classroom with Real Life
One of the central objectives of Social Science Week at Sharda World School was to help students understand the relevance of the subject in their everyday lives.
History helps learners understand the events and ideas that have shaped societies, while Geography develops awareness of places, people, and the world around us. Political Science provides an understanding of society and its institutions, while Economics helps students explore how resources and economic decisions influence everyday life.
By bringing these areas together through interactive learning experiences, the celebration encouraged students to recognise Social Science as a subject closely connected with the world they experience every day.
Encouraging Awareness and Responsible Citizenship
Beyond academic learning, Social Science plays an important role in helping young learners become more aware of society and the issues that influence communities and the wider world.
The activities conducted during the week encouraged students to develop curiosity about social issues while strengthening their ability to observe, analyse, collaborate, and think critically.
These experiences helped reinforce the importance of being informed and aware of the world around them—qualities that contribute towards the development of responsible citizens.
Three Days of Exploration and Discovery
The Social Science Week 2026 at Sharda World School concluded on a positive note after three days of enthusiastic participation, exploration, and learning.
The celebration successfully created opportunities for students to connect classroom concepts with real-life experiences while developing a greater appreciation for the different dimensions of Social Science.
Through initiatives such as Social Science Week, Sharda World School continues to encourage students to question, explore, understand, and engage with the world around them, helping nurture informed, thoughtful, and responsible young learners.
