On 8th October, 2024, the young learners of Sharda World School had the opportunity to visit the HDFC Bank branch located in Sanjay Place, Agra. This visit was organised as a part of the school's educational initiative to help students understand real-world financial operations and the role of banks in our daily lives.

The visit commenced with an insightful discussion about "Who is a Banker?" The learners were introduced to the role and responsibilities of a banker, understanding that they help manage and safeguard people's money, assist in various financial transactions, and provide advice on financial matters.

 

Following the introduction, the learners were shown ATM and CDM (Cash Deposit Machines). They learned how these machines work and were particularly fascinated by the fact that CDMs do not accept fake money, ensuring secure and reliable physical transactions.

The visit also included a detailed walk-through of Teller Counters, where the learners observed how bank tellers assist customers with their daily transactions like deposits and withdrawals. They were also introduced to the documents required to open a bank account, such as identity proof, address proof, and passport-sized photographs.

In addition, the learners gained basic information about bank lockers, which are used to store valuable items securely. They learned about the criteria to open a bank account, including the importance of providing accurate personal details and documents.

The discussion then moved on to loans, where learners were briefed on how banks lend money to individuals for various purposes like education, homes, and businesses, which they can repay in installments.

The students were also introduced to debit cards, explaining how they allow users to withdraw money from ATMs and make payments at various outlets. Furthermore, they learned about the importance of a four-digit PIN, which serves as a personal security measure for safeguarding their accounts.

This informative visit gave the young learners of Sharda World School valuable exposure to the inner workings of a bank, equipping them with essential knowledge about banking operations and financial literacy.

Overall, the visit was an enriching experience, leaving the learners curious and more aware of how banks function in the world around them.
