On October 25, 2024, Sharda World School hosted a heartwarming Grandparents Day Reading event, inviting the beloved grandparents of Grade 1 and 2 students from both CBSE and Cambridge curriculums. This special occasion was designed to nurture a love for reading and storytelling and foster stronger bonds between children and their grandparents through a variety of engaging and hands-on activities.
The celebration was graced by esteemed members of the school’s leadership team, including Dr. Garima Yadav (School Advisor), Dr. Shiv Kumar Tiwari (School Principal), Ms. Aarti Khurana (Cambridge Principal), and Ms. Neena Rathore (Vice Principal), whose presence underscored the importance of this cherished day.
The event commenced with a traditional welcome, as students extended their greetings to the guests with warmth and respect. A welcome poem set the tone, celebrating the joy and wisdom that grandparents bring into their lives. This was followed by a storytelling session where grandparents shared mythological tales inspired by the Ramayana, enriching the young minds with timeless lessons and values.
Hands-on and creative activities brought added excitement, with the children and their grandparents engaging in Lakshmi Pao and Swastik crafting, blending tradition with creativity. Following this, a prerecorded “Memory Sharing” video was showcased, where children shared cherished memories with their grandparents, filling the hall with laughter, smiles, and nostalgic moments.
The celebration concluded with a special lunch in the dining hall, offering time for grandparents to relax and enjoy a meal with their grandchildren. To honor their presence and express gratitude, the school presented each grandparent with a small token of appreciation. The Grandparents Day Reading event was a beautiful reflection of family bonds, shared traditions, and the enduring power of storytelling.
